EN: Scorching heat for Kofler Brothers in north-eastern Spain
Motorland Aragon is on the schedule of the two Austrian racing brothers Max and Andi. They will discover the next Grand Prix circuit at the FIM CEV Repsol championship this weekend. The older Kofler brother Max will have one race of Moto3 Junior World Championship at Alcaniz. Andi has scheduled two races of European Talent Cup. The current temperatures of 38 degrees Celsius will be the biggest challenge for the two Upper-Austrians. The circuit is located two hours away from Tarragona by car. It is the fifth round of the Spanish championship.
The second part of the season starts after the summer break for the two brothers from Attnang-Puchheim, but they have been very active in the last weeks. For one week they stayed at Spain to get to know the tracks of Alcaniz and Albacete. These are two completely new circuits for the two brothers, where races are held of FIM CEV Repsol beside of Jerez and Valencia in the second half of 2018. They also prepared for their home race at Red Bull Ring, which will be the season highlight as Max is entering the World Championship race at Moto3 via a Wild Card and Andi is racing at the ADAC Junior Cup powered by KTM, a support series at the Grand Prix weekend.
"The heat and the temperatures in Spain are complete madness," reported Max from Aragon. At the last races he figured out a good setup for his KTM, prepared by the British KRP Team: “It worked out perfect and I’m really optimistic for this weekend." His brother Andi instead struggled to pick up a good setup for his Honda in the last months. He completely recovered from his bad highsider at Barcelona, which he had overcome just with bruises. "He has to gain experience at every weekend. That is his major task this season. The level of European Talent Cup is high and Andi managed to prevail well so far," told father Klaus, who is accompany his sons at Spain.
The test days on Thursday and Friday were promising for the two Koflers. "The circuit is difficult and you have to gain confidence and knowledge. You have to retract blind nearly every corner and the breaking points are not visible. The setup of the bike is okay. We have found a really good standard for my KTM," stated Max. Andi also had his issues with the hot weather, but managed to do well in the last sessions.
On Saturday it is qualification time for the two boys after the training days. On Sunday there is scheduled one race for Max and two races for Andreas.
