Heftiger Abflug am Freitag zerstört Cremona-Wochenende
Zehnte Supersport-WM-Runde in Cremona in Italien

Nasty Crash on Friday Ruins Cremona Weekend
After losing the front end during qualifying at the tenth round of the Superbike World Championship, Team Motorsport Kofler had to work into the early hours of the morning to repair rider Andreas Kofler's bike. Although his Yamaha tumbled multiple times through the gravel trap, it was ready for the Austrian by Saturday; he ultimately finished the races in Italy in 24th and 27th place.
"We started well in Friday's practice; the lap times were good and provided a really solid foundation for the weekend—but then came that nasty crash," recounted Kofler, who lost the front end early in the Superpole session. His motorcycle flipped over several times in the gravel trap and was almost completely destroyed.
"I have to thank the team for getting the bike back in shape; they were working on it until 3:00 a.m.," said Kofler, though his performance on Saturday and Sunday was inevitably affected by the crash. He qualified only 34th for the Superpole, having managed to complete just one lap before the fall. In the first race—which was red-flagged and restarted—he finished 24th, followed by 27th place in the second race.
"We could certainly have achieved more, but naturally, we lacked the data from Friday and the experience we could have gained. Now our full focus is on Estoril; we want to get off to a strong start on Friday, as that is crucial for establishing a good foundation for the races. I wasn't able to wrap up Friday successfully over the last two weekends, and that didn't really help matters for the races," he concluded.
