Sturz im ersten Rennen in Assen
Trainingsfahrt nach längerer Reparaturpause auf Traditionskurs

Crash in the first race at Assen for Andreas Kofler
After a good start, the first race at the Supersport World Championship stop in Assen, Netherlands, ended early for Andreas Kofler. The young Austrian of Team Motorsport Kofler crashed after just three laps. He continued the race, but a lengthy repair stop meant that the Yamaha rider could only complete a few more practice laps.
“Unfortunately, the race didn’t last as long as I had hoped,” explained the Austrian, who had qualified in 26th place on Friday. He was just 1.6 seconds behind pole-sitter Lucas Mahias of France and six-tenths of a second off the top 15. “I got into the race well, had already overtaken several riders, then I threw it away,” said Kofler after the race.
The two-time champion of the International German Motorcycle Road Racing Championship (IDM) in the Supersport class, who has been a regular starter in the World Championship since this year, also saw the positive aspects: “Saturday was definitely a step forward after the practice sessions and Superpole. We wanted to finish the race in 15th to 20th place, and that's where we were. As a team, we learned a lot again, gained a lot of experience, and hopefully we can use these insights in race two.”
That race awaits them on Sunday at the traditional circuit in the Netherlands.
