Max jubelt über ersten Punkt in der Junioren-WM
Platz 15 im Rennen der Moto3 in Aragon

EN: P15 for Max at Moto3 race at Aragon
In the fifth round of Moto3 Junior World Championships of Spanish FIM CEV Repsol series Max managed to score his maiden point at Motorland Aragon. After he was starting from P21 the young student from Attnang-Puchheim battled his way through the midfield. In the slipstream of the chasing group of eight leaders the KTM rider crossed the finish line on P15 and secured his first championship point. In two weeks he will start at the Austrian Grand Prix, where the 17-Year-Old received a wild card spot for the Moto3 World Championship.
"It was a tough race. I think it would be possible to ride faster, but I didn’t want to risk my first points with a hazardous manoeuvre," explained the happy Austrian after the race. The riders, who fought for the points, were divided into two groups at the early stage of the 15 laps long race at Motorland Aragon. "Everything worked smooth. It was the first time I tried to complete a full race on the soft tyres, a small poker game, as the softer doesn’t last as long as the harder compound. Due to the hot temperatures at Spain it was possible to keep the pace and it worked out perfectly. During the race I managed to score my fastest lap of the entire weekend," analysed Max. The race of Moto3 was characterized by wheel-on-wheel duels and every corner a rider tried to overtake an opponent, typical for the small class. The young Upper-Austrian remained calm, as he didn’t want to compromise his maiden point.
"I was focused on the result and to score my first point ahead of my home Grand Prix at Spielberg is awesome," stated the KTM rider. At the eyetime Grand Prix of Austria he will enter his second World Championship race of his career at Moto3. "I had a good pace today and I think that I was one of the fastest riders of my group. In a view to my upcoming highlight it wasn’t the day to take a risk, having a crash or receive an injury. It is a big thing to race on home soil in front of 200.000 fans," added the 17-Year-Old.
His younger brother Andi, who is entered at the European Talent Cup of FIM CEV Repsol, a series with identical Moto3 bikes from Honda, struggled in qualification with the hot temperatures and his bike setup. The 13-Year-Old qualified P44 and managed to improve in his two races. In the first run he finished 35th and in his second race he scored a 30th place. "Unfortunately, I out-braked myself at the beginning of the first race and had a rather lonesome ride. At the end I was involved in a thrilling fight, whom I won. The second race started similar, after a crash of two opponents I had to run wide and lost time and was again racing alone, but it was quite positive to get as many kilometres possible," summed the younger Kofler brother up.
After two busy weeks at Spain, with a lot of test runs and a race weekend the boys return to Austria. Then they have to start prepare themselves for the Austrian Grand Prix, as Max is racing in Moto3 and Andi enters the ADAC Junior Cup powered by KTM, which is supporting the World Championship round at Spielberg.
